Falcons Power Past North Central Behind Wanguhu’s Career Night

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – Jeremy Wanguhu delivered a career performance in his return to the lineup, pouring in 28 points to lead UW-River Falls to an 87-78 win over North Central (Minn.) on Wednesday night at Page Arena.

Wanguhu ran on all cylinders from start to finish, shooting 7-of-11 from the field, knocking down 4-of-5 from beyond the arc, and going a perfect 10-of-10 at the line while adding four rebounds and four assists. The Falcons shot 62.8 percent overall and 57.1 percent from three, outscoring the Rams 48-42 in the second half to pull away. Off the glass, the Falcons pulled down 36 rebounds, compared to North Central's 31 total rebounds. Defensively, the Falcons held the Rams to just 42.3 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from the arc. 

Micah Thompson continued his interior presence, adding 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting while leading UWRF with five assists. Jack Leifker posted 15 points and four boards, and Gavin Ralph contributed eight points and team-leading seven rebounds.

UWRF stayed consistent inside with 34 points in the paint and created 13 points off of North Central's turnovers. The Falcons committed just 12 fouls in the contest compared to the Rams 25 fouls. The Falcons positioned themselves well, hitting 25-of-34 at the free-throw line compared to North Central's 8-of-14.

The win improves the Falcons record to 3-4 on the season as they head to Mankato, Minn., facing off against Bethany Lutheran Saturday afternoon.
