Jacob Balcome named WIAC Field Performer of the Meet

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has announced its award winners from the 2025 indoor track & field season, with UW-River Falls sophomore Jacob Balcome earning Kwik Trip Field Performer of the Meet.

Balcome made history for the Falcons this past weekend at the 2025 WIAC Indoor Championships, becoming the first UWRF athlete to win a conference title in men's heptathlon. In addition, the Alexandria, Minnesota native also set a new program indoor record with 5,208 points scored. Balcome saw strong performances across all seven events, but took home first-place finishes in long jump and pole vault, as well as a runner-up placement in the 60-meter hurdles.

In addition to a stellar showing in the men's heptathlon, Balcome also placed eighth in the open long jump with a jump of 6.88 meter (22-07).

Balcome is the first Falcon to be honored as WIAC Indoor Track Performer of the Meet since David Paynotta earned the recognition in 2015-16.
