LA CROSSE, Wis. — The UW-River Falls softball team fell in both games in the WIAC doubleheader at UW-La Crosse Tuesday afternoon.
The Falcons, now 17-15 overall and 2-6 during conference play, put together strong pitching performances but were held to seven total hits and one run through two games.
UWRF returns to Perkins Stadium to host UW-Stevens Point this Saturday, April 26.

In game one, the Eagles mounted an early lead and limited the Falcons to just three base hits to earn the win.
Down 3-0 early on, the Falcons answered in the third inning with what ended up being their sole run of the game. Grace Gardner drew a base on balls and advanced to third off a double by Caitlyn Kressel, then scored when Kelly Aultman reached on an Eagle error.
Alexa Dusterhoft started in the pitcher's circle and suffered the loss, allowing two earned runs in two innings pitched. The duo of Lindsey Duggan and Brooklyn VanGruensven each pitched two scoreless innings in relief.

Similar to game one, the Falcon bats were held quite despite solid pitching efforts from Lindsey Duggan and Brooklyn VanGruensven.
After four scoreless innings, UWL scored the game-winning run in the fifth inning. With runners on first and third, a stolen base attempt forced an errant throw by UWRF to put the Eagles up 1-0.
The Falcons threatened during their last chance at a comeback in the seventh as an Addi DeMeyer sacrifice but moved Kayla Dolan and Abby Pitts into scoring position, but UWL's Carmen Follette and the Eagle defense picked up the final two outs to escape with the win and the series sweep.
