Valorant F1 and F2 Recap

This year, UWRF expanded its Valorant program with a two-roster focus in the Fall to develop esports student-athletes while continuing to compete at the highest level in national and local conferences. Valorant F1 was bolstered by Radiant rank transfer William Huelma as they competed in over 25 matches across NECC, WEC, and other tournaments. Meanwhile, Valorant F2 consisted of four new players led by returning Falcon Female Athlete of the Year nominee Jaiden Trettin

UWRF Valorant F1 came out of the gates strong in both the NECC and WEC with a 13-5 cumulative regular season record. Senior Morgan Lee earned All-First Team WEC honors as he led the Falcons to a thrilling Northwest Regional 3-2 victory over UW-Stout to secure a top four seed at the fall championship in Waukesha, WI. Unfortunately, the Falcon's WEC Championship Tournament run came to an early end in an upset defeat to eventual champs WCTC. In NECC, UWRF took down Illinois State University, University of Texas at Dallas, and University of Houston to lock in playoffs. After a 2-0 win against University of Waterloo, UWRF lost in a 1-2 rematch to No. 1 seed University of Missouri to cement a top-four finish.

UWRF Valorant F2, comprised of four underclassmen and first-time esports student-athletes, spent much of their fall WEC season building team synergy and working on their agent pools. Freshman Hani Alhashedi from Saudi Arabia quickly emerged as one of the top duelists in the state and earned WEC All-Second Team honors as the team closed out the season with three consecutive victories including 2-0 sweeps over Northwest rivals UW-Eau Claire and UW-Superior. In the spring, F2 competed nationally in NACE under new assistant coach Ryan Jensen. After adapting to his new strategies, the team clinched Divisional Playoffs due to another three-game win streak and took down St. Andrews University to advance to their first Divisional Semifinals. UWRF F2's season came to a close with a loss to the top-seeded University of North Carolina Greensboro.
