Falcons crush program record for two-day team score at D3 Classic

HASTINGS, Minn. – The UW-River Falls women's golf team carded a program record two-day team score of 643 (+67) to finish seventh as a team among 18 teams at the Division III Classic Sept. 13-14 at Emerald Greens Golf Course.

While facing tough competition with several of the teams in the field having received votes in the WGCA DIII Preseason Coaches Poll, the Falcons stepped up to the tee box and broke the program record two-day team score by 26 strokes - besting the previous record of 669, set during the 2022 DIII Classic.

During the Falcons' opening round on Saturday, they compiled a team score of 326, the second-lowest round in UWRF history, and followed up with an even better score on Sunday, carding a 317 - another program best. UWRF's previous team record for a single day score was 321 at the 2018 WIAC Championships.

Individually, Lauren Skov and Megan Bermejo led the Falcons, carding matching scores of 159 (+15) to tie for 23rd place in a field of 97 golfers.

After shooting an 82 on Saturday, Skov jumped up 14 spots on the leaderboard with a 77 on Sunday - the second lowest round of her career. Bermejo was steady with scores of 80 and 79, the best two rounds of her freshman year so far.

Up next, the Falcons are scheduled to compete at the UW-Whitewater Fall Invite Sept. 28-29 at TPC Wisconsin in Madison, Wis.
