No. 19 Falcons to host Alma College for 2025 opener

The No. 19-ranked UW-River Falls football team is set to open its 2025 season at home this Saturday, Sept. 6, hosting Alma College at 12 p.m. inside Smith Stadium at Ramer Field.

UPDATED GAMEDAY POLICIES & ONLINE TICKETS
  • Online Ticketing
    • Admission to all UWRF Football home events for the 2025 season will be sold exclusively online.
  • No Readmittance Policy
    • Once a ticket is scanned for entry, there is no re-entry allowed. This policy applies to all fans, including students and guests. Exceptions for medical or accessibility reasons must be arranged with stadium staff at entry. The policy aims to enhance safety and streamline operations.
  • Tailgating and Parking Policy
    • Tailgating is allowed in Pay Lot 3 starting 4 hours before kickoff and must conclude 2 hours after the game. Only one vehicle per space is permitted. Propane and gas grills are allowed; charcoal and open flames are not. All fans are expected to clean up and behave responsibly. Parking is $10 for single vehicles and $25 for RVs/oversized vehicles.
  • Gameday Alcohol Sales
    • UWRF Athletics is proud to partner with Chartwells to offer beer and wine for purchase in the Smith Stadium tailgate area during all UWRF football games. 
    • Beer and wine sales will be available in the Smith Stadium tailgate area when gates open until the end of the third quarter.

SMALL SCHOOL SATURDAY
  • 'Division 1 Rejects,' an online platform covering Division II, III, and NAIA football, will be hosting a live 'Gameday' show outside of Smith Stadium.
  • Fans can WATCH LIVE on the D1 Rejects social media channels, starting at 9:30 a.m.



MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS GAME
  • Saturday's game will be in partnership with the W.I.N.G.S. Foundation in support of mental health awareness. The W.I.N.G.S. Foundation, co-founded by UWRF assistant coach Craig Miles and his wife Cathy, was established to help students, families and communities in need while emphasizing kindness and a pay-it-forward attitude.
  • UWRF student health and counseling will be at the game for support and to also spread mental health awareness.
AGAINST THE SCOTS
  • Saturday's game marks the fifth all-time meeting between UW-River Falls and Alma College, with the Falcons holding a 4-0 series lead.
  • The two teams met during last year's season opener in Alma, Mich., with the Falcons prevailing 41-35.
    • During the win, quarterback Kaleb Blaha compiled 426 yards of total offense to become the program's all-time leader in total offense. He heads into the season as the record holder with 8,550 yards in his career since 2021.
IN THE RANKINGS
  • UWRF is ranked No. 19 in both the D3football.com and AFCA Preseason Polls.
  • The Falcons were tabbed to finish third in the 2025 WIAC Preseason Poll. UW-La Crosse is predicted to claim the conference title. The Eagles made their fourth consecutive NCAA appearance a year ago and enter this season ranked No. 10 by the AFCA.
FALCON NOTES
  • UWRF is coming off a fourth consecutive winning season, going 7-3 overall last year and 4-3 in the WIAC along with an undefeated 5-0 record on its home turf at Ramer Field in River Falls.
  • The Falcons return fifth-year quarterback Kaleb Blaha, who missed the majority of last season due to injury. The program's all-time leader in total offense, he was a Gagliardi Trophy Semifinalist in 2023, an award given to the most outstanding player in Division III football. 
    • In addition, UWRF returns All-Region linebacker Gage Timm, and several All-WIAC selections from last season, Timm, Ben Wesolowski, and Justin Scheberl. Scheberl is UWRF's all time leader in made PATs (147).
    • Cade Fitzgerald returns as the Falcons' top rusher from last season, having compiled 569 yards and a WIAC-best 12 rushing touchdowns.
    • Wide receiver Austin Rush returns as last year's leading receiver. He caught six touchdown passes with 550 receiving yards. 
    • Gage Timm led the Falcon defense last season with 84 tackles and led the WIAC with 15.5 tackles for loss.
  • Matt Walker returns for his 15th season at the helm of the program.
