Men's Basketball Team Tops Loras, 70-60

Manor Nets Double-Double For Falcons

Shane Manor recorded a double-double as the Falcons won the opener at the Bethel Tournament, defeating Loras College 70-60 on Friday night.

The senior recorded 16 points, 11 rebounds, three steals, and two assists in the Falcons first victory of the season.
 
The Falcons held a 25-24 lead at the half before dominating the second half, shooting nearly 50 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes. The Falcons never trailed in the second half and led by as much as 15 points, including a late 12-2 run.
 
Chris Palmer, the transfer from St. Mary's University, added 16 points in just 14 minutes, including a game-best 3-3 from beyond the arc.
 
Also pouring in my double digit points were Ollie White and Wade Guerin with 10 points each. White grabbed seven boards, while Guerin pulled down eight as the Falcons owned the boards with a 42-31 advantage.
 
“This was a good team win tonight,” said Falcon Coach Jeff Berkhof. “We did a solid job on the defensive end and we have different guys step up when we needed it on the offensive end.”

The Falcons shot over 35-percent from beyond the three-point line after a dismal 14-percent  in the opener at Viterbo on Tuesday. The bench knocked in 22 points, led by Palmer with 22 points.
 
Up next the Falcons will play Bethel University in the championship game at 8 p.m.,. on Saturday. Bethel knocked off Bethany Lutheran 62-59 in the other semi-final game on Friday.
