Smith Scores Career High in Men's Basketball Loss at Luther

Arik Smith poured in a career high 21 points in the Falcons 74-60 loss at Luther on Saturday. This is just the second time a Falcon has scored over 20 points in 2012.
 
 The Falcons fell behind in the first half 36-18 behind a hot-shooting Luther team that made more than 53-percent of their shots. The Norse opened up on a 22-4 run and never looked back.
 
Down by as much as 19 in the second half, the Falcons went on a 19-5 run of their own to cut the gap to seven.  Taylor Peterson hit a three with 9:35 to cut the lead to just five points, but another 10-2 run by Luther put the game away.
 
The Falcons outscored the Norse in the second half 42-38, but could not overcome the halftime deficit.  Luther continued to shoot well hitting over 63-percent in the second half.
 
Zach Peterson had eight points and eight rebounds in the loss. UT Udo and Taylor Peterson had seven points each.
 
Smith's historic day included four rebounds and a team-best three assists. He made all eight of his free throws and was six-of-eight from the field.
 
The Falcons have a seven day break and return to action next Saturday when they host Pacific Lutheran at Karges Center. The Falcons are 2-0 all-time against Pacific Lutheran. Tip Off is at 5:00 p.m.
