Golf Team Competes at Royal Invitational

Falcons Place Third in Six Team Meet

The Falcon golf team placed third in the two-day Royal Invitational held at the Loggers Trail Golf Club in Stillwater, Minn., last weekend.

On Saturday the Falcons finished with a team score of 387strokes and were in fourth place. But on Sunday the Falcons shot a 366 which was the second best team score shot that day. The Falcons finished with a 753 team score and placed third overall in the six team meet.

"I was very proud of the team for just finishing a britual five-hour round on Saturday," said Falcon Coach Matt Cranston. "It rained from when we teed off until the 16th hole. It was very windy and rainy - very tough conditions. On Sunday we cut 21 strokes off of our team score from Saturday which was a great improvement."

Mackenzie Casey led the Falcons wtih a ninth place finish. She shot 94 on the first day and came back with an 86 on Sunday for a two-day total of 180.  Abby Lucas tied for 11th place. She shot a 92, best on the team, on Saturday and then a 90 on Sunday for a 182 total. 

Lauren Schweppe shot a career-best 88 on Sunday and she placed 13th overall with a two-day total of 183. Nicole Myers placed 29th overall with a round of 102 on Sunday and a two-day total of 208. Heather Horgen shot 107 on Saturday and finished 31st with a two-day total of 215.
