Box Score David Berthene was one of four UW-River Falls Falcon players to hit double digits with 20 points in the 90-77 win over the UW-Superior Yellow Jackets.
UWRF started the game hitting from the behind the arc as
Jay Sewer hit two three pointers and
Ben Gresmer hit one to give the Falcons an early 9-2 lead just two minutes into the game.
UWRF hit 10 three pointers total in the game shooting 10-24 (41.7%) from three point in the game.
UWS would climb back to tie the game at 11-11 but never led in the first half. UWRF led at halftime 40-34 over the Yellow Jackets.
Sewer led after one half with eight points for the Falcons. He would not score in the second half.
Ollie White had ten rebounds after one half of play.
UWS tied the game twice in the second half and kept it close most of the way but could never take the lead. They also had four players in double digits and were led by Jarrod Peterson who finished with 20 points. Bronson Byrne recorded a double-double with 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
The Falcons connected on free throw after free throw in the second half. They hit 22-26 (84.6%) including 7-9 from
Grant Erickson who finished with 16 points.
Berthene's 20 points are a career high in a Falcon uniform and he also added five rebounds. White contributed a double-double in the game with 13 points and 12 rebounds and
Devin Buckley scored double digits for the second straight game with 14 points.
UWRF went 29-65 (44.6%) from the field. They were out rebounded 42-36 in the game but only had three turnovers compared to 10 by UWS.
The road win is the first one of the season for the Falcons. They improve to 8-16 on the season and 3-12 in the WIAC. They will conclude their season at UW-Platteville Saturday evening with tip off set for 7 p.m.
