WAVERLY, Iowa (uwrfsports.com) The UW-River Falls women's golf team finished day one of the Wartburg College Fall Invite in 14
th place with a score of 373.
The Falcons saw some major progress from their first meet. As a five player team, the Falcons ladies dropped 39 strokes from their play on Sunday in Oshkosh.
"This last week we put a big focus on increasing our efficiency around the green," said Coach
Lance Westberg. "We saw much better chipping and putting performances this week which resulted in lower scores. It was fun to see our girls shooting closer to their potential. We still left some shots out there and have areas we can improve upon. As a team, we showed much better mental toughness which helped us on some challenging holes."
Maddie Flack led the team shooting 88 on the day. Her score tied her for 50
th overall.
Miranda Ray tied for 62
nd with a score of 91.
Vienna Jude shot 96 and posted the Falcon's first birdie of the year. She stuck her tee shot within four feet on a par three and tapped in her birdie.
Mari Pechacek followed behind her shooting a 98. Rounding out the team was
Kelley Krayecki with a score of 105.
St. Thomas leads the 17 team field with a 301. Vrishali Sinha of Grinnell and Emily Thul of St. Thomas are tied for first place with a score of 71.
Final rounds will commence on Sunday.
