OSHKOSH, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) The UW-River Falls women's golf team finish day one of the UW-Oshkosh Invitational in 9th place with a score of 406 +114.
Mari Pechacek led the Falcon squad with a score of 90 which tied her for 20th overall in the standings. Miranda Ray came in second with a score of 100 tying her for 38th place. Maddie Flack and Vienna Jude finished in the top 50 performers with scores of 104 and 112.
"Today there were two weddings that took place on the course during our tournament, so it was a very slow round. Oshkosh Country Club was a very challenging course with fast greens and little forgiveness outside the fairway. Overall, the ladies had some very good holes, but got caught with a few big numbers,"said Head Golf Coach Lance Westberg. "Tomorrow should be better without the weddings as it will allow the field to be better distributed around the course. With a quicker pace, we should be able to find a better rhythm when we play. I look forward to us having a better knowledge of the course tomorrow and be ready to go tomorrow morning!"
