RIVER FALLS, Wisconsin – The UW-River Falls women's hockey team picked up their sixth win of the season defeating Northland College 8-0 Saturday afternoon at Hunt Arena.
Brooke Walters got the Falcons on the board first scoring at 2:10.
Maddie McCollins followed it up two minutes later with a goal giving the Falcons a 2-0 lead.
A slow second period only allowed for a single goal at 6:39 by
Callie Hoff. The goal came on the power play opportunity.
The Falcons went on to score five goals in the third period.
Alex Hantge and
Kora Torkelson went back and forth scoring four of the five. Hantge scored the first at 6:18. Assisting her on the goal was Hoff and Torkelson. Torkelson responded with a goal at 10:17 giving the Falcons the 5-0 lead. Hantge scored the sixth goal, a shorthand goal, at 14:11. Torkelson took advantage of a power play opportunity scoring on a pass from
Abigail Stow and
Callie Hoff.
Brooke Walters scored the eight and final goal at 17:33 in the third period. She was assisted by
Ellie Brice and
Aubrey Nelvin.
The Falcons outhsot the Lumberjills 77 to nine. Hantge, Torkelson and Walters each ended the game with two goals.
Callie Hoff scored one goal and assisted on four for a five-point game.
Jordan O'Connor got her second win of the season.
The Falcons host St. Scholastica on Tuesday November 16. Game time is set for 7:05 at Hunt Arena.
