No. 4 Women's Hockey shuts out Saints

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The No. 4-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team earned a non-conference shut out Tuesday evening at Hunt Arena, defeating the College of St. Scholastica 6-0.

14 different Falcons contributed on the scoresheet, led by Bailey Olson's two goals, Kora Torkelson three assists, and Callie Hoff and Maddie McCollins each scoring a goal with two assists.

The Falcons took a 2-0 lead in the first period, with senior captain and reigning WIAC Women's Hockey Player of the Week Callie Hoff playing a role in both.

Hoff opened the game's scoring just under four minutes into the game, her sixth goal of the season, assisted by Kora Torkelson and Allisen Carothers.

After an outlet pass from Jessica Rubenalt, Hoff fed Maddie McCollins for the second goal of the game at 13:16, and UWRF took a two-goal lead into the first intermission.

UWRF doubled its lead in the middle stanza with another pair of goals. Ellie Brice shoved in her second goal on the year after a scramble in front of the Saints' goaltender to put the Falcons up 3-0 at 12:28. Not long after, Bailey Olson finished off a nice pass from Abigail Stow and the Falcons led by four.

It took the Falcons under a minute to take a 6-0 lead and knock the Saints' starting netminder out of the game. Alex Hantge banged in a rebound 24 seconds into the period and Bailey Olson extended UWRF's lead to six just 23 seconds later with her second goal of the night.

CSS goalie Ashlea Arvidson replaced the team's starter and shutout the Falcons for the final 19 minutes of the night.

Sami Miller improved to 4-0 on the year with her third shutout, logging 14 saves.

UW-River Falls remains undefeated at 7-0 with its fourth consecutive shutout and will travel to Eau Claire, Wis., on Saturday, Nov. 20 to face WIAC rival and No. 3-ranked UW-Eau Claire.
