MENOMONIE, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's and women's track & field teams officially opened its 2022 indoor season at the UW-Stout Open on Saturday.
Lexi LeFever stood out for the Falcon women, winning both the 200-meter dash and long jump (18-5.75). Her 200m time of 25.31 currently ranks first on the NCAA DIII 2021-22 performance list.
Sarah Langlois and
Kimi Robertson also set personal records in the 200-meter dash with times of 27.18 and 28.63, respectively. Robertson also placed third in the pole vault with a leap of 11-7.75.
Maria Laudenbach led the UWRF distance runners, winning the 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:14.17.
Throwers
Jackie Rosenbush,
Jasmine Graham,
Vanessa Thiel each set personal records in the shot put and weight throws. Rosenbush led the trio with a sixth-place shot put of 37 feet, 8.75 inches and seventh place weight throw of 43-10.
On the men's side, several Falcons set personal bests.
Eric Ottosen led the distance runners with a PR mile time of 4:49.92, which place him 21
st of 32 runners.
Charlie Theis had career bests in both the long jump (20-10.75) and 60-meter hurdles, clocking a preliminary time of 9.21.
Joel Alexander and
Brady Sindelir headlined UWRF's field events. Alexander set a PR in the pole vault (13-1.5) while Sindelir finished in fifth of 16 shot put throwers with a toss of 43-1 and a weight throw mark of 35-7.75.
The Falcons return to Menomonie next weekend to compete at the UW-Stout Warren Bowles Multis & Invite Jan. 28-29.
