SUPERIOR, Wis. – The No. 4-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team defeated UW-Superior 6-1 Friday afternoon, improving to 19-1 overall with its 12th consecutive win.
After the Yellowjackets opened the game's scoring under 30 seconds into the game, the Falcons responded with six unanswered goals.
Kora Torkelson's pair of power play goals in the first period proved to be the difference, tying the game at 8:15 before adding the eventual game-winner minutes later. Both were assisted by
Abigail Stow, who tallied three helpers on the game.
UWRF added two more goals in each the second and third period, with four different goal scorers;
Alex Hantge,
Callie Hoff,
Ellie Brice, and
Bailey Olson.
In net,
Sami Miller collected 19 saves to earn the win, improving her record to 9-1 on the season.
The Falcons had a 40-20 lead in shots on goal and 33-23 edge in faceoff wins.
UW-River Falls returns to Hunt Arena tomorrow night to host UW-Superior during Senior Night.
