ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 overall with a 25-6 win at North Carolina Wesleyan College Tuesday afternoon.
The Falcons collected a season-high 25 goals and 26 ground balls, led by five goals each from
Emma Kohlbeck and
Emily Herdine.
UWRF held a 33-8 edge in shots on goal while forcing 21 Battling Bishop turnovers.
The visiting Falcons got off to a strong start, earning an 8-1 lead in the first period with two goals each from
Josie Johnson and Herdine.
Johnson then opened the second with back-to-back goals, giving UWRF a 10-1 lead before the Falcons led 15-3 at halftime.
UWRF held Wesleyan scoreless in the third while extending its advantage to 22-3 lead, and coasted to victory.
Behind Kohlbeck and Herdine, Johnson and
Emma Heerey both had for goals, while
Bailey O'Donovan added three. Johnson collected a game-high seven ground balls.
Ashley Olson and
Kayden Hersback shared time in net, each collecting one save. Olson picked up the win, improving her record to 2-0 on the season.
The Falcons travels to Fayetteville, N.C., tomorrow to face Methodist University.
