RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team remained undefeated with its fifth consecutive win of the season, defeating North Central College 17-4 on Saturday afternoon at David Smith Stadium on Ramer Field.
UWRF out-shot North Central 51-13, with 40 shots on target, while collecting a season-high 43 ground balls and a strong effort on clear attempts (15-for-16).
The Falcons were led by a six-goal effort by junior attacker
Emily Herdine, who has scored at least three goals in each game this year. Seven of UWRF's 17 goals came off free-position shots.
Emma Heerey followed with four goals and the duo of
Josie Johnson and
Emma Kohlbeck added two goals each.
UWRF jumped out to an 8-1 lead through the first 15 minutes and limited the Cardinals to just a couple more goals in the second period to lead 12-3 at halftime.
NCC was limited to just one goal in the second half, while the Falcons scored five in the third period and coasted to victory.
The Falcons, now 5-0 overall, face Illinois Wesleyan tomorrow afternoon during a neutral site matchup on the campus of UW-La Crosse.
