LA CROSSE, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team prevailed 16-8 over Illinois Wesleyan during a neutral site matchup on the campus of UW-La Crosse Sunday afternoon, remaining unbeaten on the season with its second win of the weekend.
UWRF improves to 6-0 overall to remain undefeated.
The Falcons were down 4-1 around eight minutes into regulation, but responded with a 7-1 output in the second period to take a 9-5 halftime lead and continued an 11-goal run to earn a 14-5 advantage heading into the final period.
IWU scored three in the final 15 minutes, but UWRF scored a pair to lead the Falcons to their sixth consecutive victory.
Emma Kohlbeck and
Emily Herdine led the attack with four goals each, followed by three goals each from
Josie Johnson and
Bailey O'Donovan.
Ashley Olson made four saves in net to earn the win.
UWRF led 29-12 in shots on goal and forced 28 Titan turnovers.
Up next, UWRF hosts Augsburg University this Wednesday, March 30, at Ramer Field.
