RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team defeated Augsburg University 26-5 Wednesday evening at Ramer Field.
UWRF remains undefeated at 7-0 overall while tying a program single-game scoring record with 26 goals, matching the team's March 30, 2019 total at the University of Dallas during the Falcons' inaugural season.
The Falcons held the Auggies to a trio of goals in the first half while jumping out to a 12-goal advantage in the first period, and leading 19-3 at halftime. UWRF limited Augsburg to just three shot attempts in the first half while peppering the visiting netminder with 33 shots, 26 on target.
Up by 16 goals, the home team shut the door in the second half, holding the Auggies to a pair of late goals while adding seven.
Five different Falcons scored at least three goals, led by five each from
Josie Johnson and
Emma Heerey.
Grace Hannula and
Emma Kohlbeck followed with four each, and
Cassandra Hubble with three. Hannula led the Falcons with four assists.
Kayden Hersback made her second start of the season in net, and improve to 2-0 while tallying four saves.
UWRF held a 37-9 edge in shots on goal, went 9-for-10 on clear attempts, and led 22-10 on draw controls.
The Falcons travel to Lake Forest College on Sunday.
