LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team continued its winning ways on Sunday afternoon, winning 18-7 at Lake Forest College.
The Falcons remain undefeated and improve to 8-0 overall.
After taking an early lead and a slow second period for both teams, UWRF had a strong third period and coasted to victory. The Falcons out-shot the Foresters 46-14, logged a season-high 22 clears, and forced 30 Lake Forest turnovers.
UWRF led 6-3 after the first period and both teams were limited to just one goal apiece in the second, and the Falcons led 7-4 at halftime. UWRF held a 12-8 edge in shots on goal during the first 30 minutes.
Following the break, the Falcons scored eight to extend their lead to 10 in the third period, leading 15-5 heading into the fourth with enough cushion for the win.
Emily Herdine led the attack with eight points, scoring six goals with two assists.
Emma Kohlbeck followed with four goals, while the trio of
Josie Johnson,
Kyla Palo, and
Holly Eckers each scored twice.
Grace Hannula led the Falcons with four assists
Ashley Olson made the start in goal, and earned her sixth win of the season while tallying six saves.
UW-River Falls hosts UW-Eau Claire next, on Wednesday, April 6 at Ramer Field.
