RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team defeated UW-Eau Claire 17-6 Wednesday evening from Smith Stadium at Ramer Field.
UWRF remains undefeated at 9-0 overall while handing the Blugolds their first loss in 2022, sinking their record to 10-1.
The Falcons out-shot the Blugolds 42-16, with 32 shots on target, and forced 27 UWEC turnovers. UWRF also held a 14-12 edge on draw controls and were 11-of-14 on clear attempts.
Senior attacker
Emma Kohlbeck tallied a season-high six goals to lead the Falcons.
Holly Eckers scored three, while the trio of
Josie Johnson,
Emily Herdine, and
Bailey O'Donovan each had a pair. Johnson scored the eventual game-winner 10 minutes into the second period.
The home team took a 6-0 lead after the first period before the Blugolds pushed back with four goals in the second. UWRF also scored four in the second, and led 10-4 at halftime.
UWRF held UWEC to just a pair of goals in the second half, including zero in the fourth period to earn the 11-goal margin of victory.
Ashley Olson made six saves in net to receive the win, improving her record to 7-0 on the season.
The Falcons play Carthage College and Carroll University this weekend.
