RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team won 22-7 over Wartburg College Saturday afternoon during its 2022 home opener at Ramer Field.
The Falcons, now 2-0 overall, held a 39-9 edge over the Knights in shots on goal, and were led by a 10-goal effort from junior attacker
Emily Herdine, which broke a UWRF single-game record.
After a 6-3 Falcon lead through the first period, the home team held Wartburg to just four goals for the remainder of regulation while tacking on another 16 goals. One of Herdine's 10 goals in stood as the eventual game-winner, in the second period.
Behind Herdine's stellar performance, Emma Kohlback logged five goals,
Bailey O'Donovan had three, and
Grace Hannula had a pair.
Emma Heerey led UWRF with three assists.
Freshman goalie
Kayden Hersback earned her first collegiate win, tallying a pair of saves of 10 total shots faced.
UWRF has next week off, preparing for its March 15-16 spring trip in North Carolina.
