RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team won 19-7 over Southwestern University Friday evening.
The Falcons remained unbeaten at Ramer Field with a 5-0 record and improved to 11-1 overall with the win.
UWRF held a 34-20 edge on shots, with 29 on target.
Just four minutes into the game, the Falcons earned a 4-0 lead while forcing a Southwestern timeout. They tacked on four more, and led 8-1 after the first period.
The Pirates were held to just one goal in each of the first three periods while UWRF scored five more in the second and four in the third, leading by as many as 15.
A collective effort paced the UWRF offense, featuring five Falcons with at least three goals.
Emily Herdine led the way with five goals and two assists, followed by a trio of goals from
Josie Johnson,
Holly Eckers,
Emma Kohlbeck, and
Bailey O'Donovan.
Ashley Olson made the start in goal and played the first three periods, earning the win with seven saves. She was relieved by
Kayden Hersback in the final 15 minutes.
Tomorrow, the Falcons travel to Eau Claire to face the Blugolds. UWRF previously handed UWEC its first loss of the season on April 6 in River Falls.
