ST. PAUL, Minn. – The UW-River Falls men's and women's track & field teams opened its 2022 outdoor season on Saturday at the Hamline University Invitational from Klas Field.
The Falcons' performance was headlined by top finishes on the women's side, including a pair of first place finishes from
Lexi LeFever, and the top time in the 4x100-meter relay.
LeFever won both the 100-meter dash and the long jump, clocking a UWRF women's outdoor record and meet record time of 12.02. Her time surpassed the previous school record 100m time of 12.14, set by Jane Ubbelohde in 1977. Her leap of 18 feet, 3.25 inches was good for first in the long jump.
LeFever also was a member of the first place women's 4x100m relay squad along with teammates
Sarah Hansen,
Kimi Robertson, and
Sarah Langlois, who compiled a time of 49 seconds, over a full two seconds ahead of the runner-up team.
In the women's 5,000-meter run,
Maria Laudenbach was the runner-up with a time of 17:49.23.
On the men's side,
Dylan Wachter finished second in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.15.
Additionally,
Peter Place earned a third place of 28 with a hammer throw of 163-1.
The Falcons will host their sole outdoor home meet of the season next Saturday, April 9.
