Falcons open Esten Challenge competing in Decathlon and Throws

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's and women's track & field teams opened competition at the UW-La Crosse Phil Esten Challenge on Friday.

Three Falcon men got underway in the Decathlon. After day one's events in the 100-meter dash, long jump, shot put, high jump, and 400-meter run, Matt Boche is in 18th with 2,517 points, Alex VanGundy is in 20th at 2,399 points, followed by Carter Aakre in 21st at 2,271 points.

Falcon throwers also opened the meet on Friday competing in the Discus Throw. Jackie Rosenbush had the top throw for the women with a personal best mark of 112-5, finishing in 16th of 51 throwers.

Ryan Kelling and Brady Sindelir finished in 18th and 19th, respectively, in the men's Discus Throw, with marks of 119-3 and 117-5.

Tomorrow, events begin at 10 a.m.
