PRESCOTT, Wis. - UW-River Falls served as the host of the 2023 WIAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Prescott High School, with the men and women both placing eighth.
UW-La Crosse men and women each took home the team titles.
The Falcon men took eighth with 260 points, averaging an 8k time of 27:30, the program's fastest since 2016. The women recorded their fastest 6k average time since 2017 at 24:35, compiling 207 points.
UWRF was led by a pair of freshmen;
Alex Pazdernik and
Laina Viere in their first career conference championship races. Pazdernik ran a 40-second lifetime best with a time of 26:57.8 to place 73rd while Viere's time of 23:15.7 was good for 24th place, a 22-second lifetime best, and a UWRF top-20 time.
