Pazdernik and Viere lead Falcons at NCAA North Regionals

COLFAX, Wis. - The UW-River Falls men's and women's cross country teams competed at the NCAA North Regionals Saturday afternoon at Whitetail Golf Course, hosted by UW-Eau Claire.

Four out of five Falcon men set 8k personal records, led by freshman Alex Pazdernik's time of 26:41.1 to finish 110th out of nearly 200 runners.

The UWRF men finished 25th of 34 teams with 681 points.

Women's freshman Laina Viere, who set a PR at the WIAC Championships, improved upon that time by over 30 seconds with a time of 22:40.7, good for All-Region honors. Her 6k time is tied for 12th best in program history while she finished 32nd among 217 runners.

All but one Falcon woman recorded a personal best time, including a top-100 finish from Cailyn Kuechle with a time of 23:53.9. The Falcon women took 19th with 519 points, their best finish since 2017.
