WIAC TO ADD WOMEN'S LACROSSE
- The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recently announced the addition of women's lacrosse for the 2023-24 academic year. The WIAC will award its first women's lacrosse champion in spring 2024.
- Teams expected to play for the inaugural women's lacrosse championship are WIAC full-time members UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse, UW-River Falls, UW-Stevens Point and UW-Stout, along with affiliate members Colorado College and Southwestern University (Texas).
- Teams will play a round robin schedule during the regular season with the top-four teams advancing to the conference tournament.
FALCON NOTES
- The Falcons are off to a 1-1 start to the season, splitting its season-opening weekend in Tennessee Feb. 18-19.
- UWRF fell 16-15 versus Oglethorpe in the season opener prior to bouncing back with a 13-11 win over Sewanee.
- Through two games, freshman midfielder Sydney Chance-Farley leads the team with nine goals.
- Kayden Hersback started both games in goal, and tallied 13 saves.
- Talia Hayes enters her second year at the helm of the program, leading the Falcons to a 15-2 overall record last season.
- UWRF returns over 75% of its scoring from last year, four of its five top scorers from 2021; Emily Herdine, Bailey O'Donovan, Grace Hannula, and Josie Johnson.
