MESA, Ariz. – The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team opened its Arizona spring break trip with a 17-6 loss against Western Connecticut State University at Bell Bank Park on Tuesday, March 14.
The Falcons' overall record dips to 1-2, while the reigning Little East Conference Champions from WestConn improve to 4-1.
The Wolves outshot the Falcons 32-17, with 24 on target, led by five goals from Vicky Gracy. WestConn earned a 12-4 first half lead, enough room for victory.
After a 3-0 deficit early on, UWRF answered with back-to-back goals from
Emily Herdine, who finished the game with a team-high three goals.
Trailing by eight at the break, the Wolves came out in the third period holding UWRF off the board while extending their lead to 17-4 heading into the final 15 minutes.
Sydney Chance-Farley and
Emma Heerey scored in the fourth for the Falcons.
In net,
Kayden Hersback took the loss for UWRF, making five saves.
Abby Hammond played the fourh period, making her collegiate debut, and collected a pair of saves.
Bailey O'Donovan assisted on three Falcon goals, and led the team with six draw controls.
Tommorow, the Falcons face Stevenson University.
