MESA, Ariz. – The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team dropped its second of two games in Arizona over spring break, falling 18-7 to Stevenson University.
After a competitive first half led to a 7-5 Mustang advantage, the Falcons conceded 11 goals in the final 30 minutes en route to the loss, dropping their overall record to 1-3.
Stevenson led 33-25 in shots and 16-13 in draw controls, and were led by a six-goal performance from Kellyann Coccia.
Sydney Chance-Farley and
Emily Herdine paced the UWRF offense, totaling three goals each.
Bailey O'Donovan followed with a goal and assist. Herdind led the Falcons with nine shots on goal.
After a 3-0 deficit eight and a half minutes in, two-straight goals from Herdine trimmed the Mustang lead to 3-2 early into the second quarter.
Stevenson regained another three goal lead in the second, answered again by a pair of Falcon goals to cut the deficit to 6-5, followed by a late Mustang goal to set the halftime score at 7-5 in favor of Stevenson.
Upon the break, the Mustangs strung together eight-straight goals to put the game out of reach.
Kayden Hersback tied her season-high with nine saves despite suffering the loss in net.
Up next, the Falcons are set for their home opener on Monday, March 20, hosting the College of Saint Benedict at Ramer Field.
