CLERMONT, Fla. – The UW-River Falls softball team defeated Bowdoin College prior to a loss against Springfield College on Friday during its final pair of games in Florida.
The Falcons, now 9-7 overall, wrapped up the spring break trip with a 5-7 record, playing 12 games on the week.
UW-River Falls 10, Bowdoin 1 (5 inn.)
Savanna Trittelwitz pitched five innings, allowing five hits and one earned run in the win while tallying four strikeouts while the Falcon offense compiled 10 runs off 10 hits and four Bowdoin errors.
After a scoreless first two innings, UWRF scored three runs in both third and fourth before adding four more in the fifth to end the game.
Keegan Piton led the Falcons with a 4-for-4 effort at the plate with two runs batted in, while
Jewel Waupekenay led the team with three RBI, along with a couple base hits.
In the fifth, the Falcons scored four runs off three hits, including an RBI triple from
Johanna Breyen.
Sprinfield 10, UW-River Falls 3
During game two, the final contest in Florida, the Falcons trailed by just one run at 4-3 after four innings, but Springfield put the game away with five runs in the last two innings.
The Pride held UWRF to three runs off four hits while totaling 13 base hits.
After three and a half innings, Springfield led 4-0 before the Falcons scored three in the bottom of the fourth.
Keegan Piton led off the fourth with a double, and came around to score on a
Kelly Aultman RBI single. An
Eleanor Hoge sacrifice fly and
Lindsey Strom RBI fielder's choice plated another two Falcon runs.
Springfield scored six runs in the next three innings to put the game out of reach.
Maggie Wallin conceded the loss in the pitcher's circle, starting and lasting 3.2 innings.
Lindsey Duggan and
Morgan Stevenson pitched in relief.
