CHICAGO, ILL. – The UW-River Falls softball team opened the North Park Triangular with a doubleheader sweep against North Park.
The falcons outscored the Vikings 21-5 on the day. And scored 21 runs off 28 hits.
UW-River Falls 9, North Park 2
In game one, the Falcons were led by a great team effort, scoring nine runs off 12 hits. Sophomore
Eleanor Hoge doubled in the first inning along with
Kelly Aultman in the second. The second inning scoring was followed by a
Keegan Piton single and
Jewel Waupekenay getting the walk to bring the falcons up 8-1 going into the third.
The Vikings didn't have enough answers for the Falcons, a stolen base in the first and an RBI single in the fourth just weren't enough.
To seal the Falcons win, Senior
Lindsey Strom singled to left field in the fifth to bring the Falcons up 9-2.

Maggie Wallin got the win for the Falcons in the pitcher's circle.
UW-River Falls 12, Loras 3
In game two, the Falcons were on a roll. The Falcons scored 12 runs off just 16 hits. The Vikings started with a homerun in the first inning, and then spent the rest of the game trying to stop the Falcons. Six different falcons created scoring plays.
Lindsey Strom doubled in the second, followed by a
Hannah Richards with a fly into center field,
Johanna Breyen reached on a fielding error by the Vikings,
Keegan Piton singled up the middle, and
Jewel Waupekenay doubled to send the Falcons up 6-3 going into the third inning.
In the third inning,
Hannah Richards doubled, and
Johanna Breyen singled to put the Falcons up 9-3. A
Keegan Piton double, a Waupekenay single, and a
Matti Renikow single on a throwing error by the Vikings gave the Falcons the 12-3 win in five innings.
Freshman
Emily Crowe started for the Falcons in the Pitchers circle with Sophomore
Lindsey Duggan coming in at the bottom of the second to get the win for the Falcons.
The Falcons now 11-7, will play another pair of games tomorrow against North Park and Loras College.
