WIAC TO ADD WOMEN'S LACROSSE
- The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recently announced the addition of women's lacrosse for the 2023-24 academic year. The WIAC will award its first women's lacrosse champion in spring 2024.Â
- Teams expected to play for the inaugural women's lacrosse championship are WIAC full-time members UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse, UW-River Falls, UW-Stevens Point and UW-Stout, along with affiliate members Colorado College and Southwestern University (Texas).Â
- Teams will play a round robin schedule during the regular season with the top-four teams advancing to the conference tournament.Â
FALCON NOTES
- The Falcons are coming off a pair of wins to open their home schedule last week, defeating the College of Saint Benedict 16-5 and Hamline University 20-6.
- Through two games, senior midfielder Josie Johnson led the Falcons with seven goals. She scored all seven goals versus Hamline on Wednesday, setting a career-high.
- Freshman goaltender Abby Hammond made her first career start versus Saint Ben's on Monday, and made eight saves to earn her first win as a Falcon.
- Freshman attacker Sydney Chance-Farley is UWRF's offensive leader through six games, having totaled 26 points off 19 goals and seven assists.
