RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team defeated the University of Northwestern 17-6 Wednesday evening at Ramer Field.
With the win, UWRF improves to 4-3 overall with its third straight win, remaining unbeaten at 3-0 on its home turf.
After a back-and-forth first period, the Falcons took control in the second frame with seven consecutive goals to claim an 11-4 lead at halftime.
The Falcons proceeded to score four more goals to extend their lead into double digits heading into the final 15 minutes, and allowed just a pair of Northwestern goals in the second half leading to the win.
A collective effort paced the Falcon attack, led by three goals each from
Emma Heerey,
Grace Hannula,
Kyla Palo, and
Holly Eckers.
Sydney Chance-Farley led the team with seven points, scoring two goals and five assists.
UWRF held a 25-15 shot on goal advantage and held Northwestern to a 10-for-22 mark on clear attempts.
The Falcons have a pair of road games in Illinois this weekend at Illinois Wesleyan University and North Central College.
