BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team opened its weekend in Illinois falling to the Titans of Illinois Wesleyan 17-12.
After just a 2-0 Titan lead, the Falcons scored two of their own to tie up the game. The home team responded with five of their own goals to just one River Falls goal to put the Titans up 7-3. River Falls wasn't going to go away, the Falcons scored six goals of their own in the second quarter to tie the score 9-9.
The Falcons did not have enough answers in the second half, dropping their overall record to 4-4.
The Titans were dominant in the net and recorded 20 saves.
The Falcons scoring efforts were led by
Josie Johnson with three goals, and then
Holly Eckers,
Grace Hannula,
Sydney Chance-Farley, and
Bailey O'Donovan with two goals each.
Emma Heerey led the Falcons in assists with two.
Freshman
Abby Hammond was in the net for the Falcons where she recorded seven saves.
The game was called with 3:05 left due to lightning and severe weather.
The Falcons will travel to face the Cardinals of North Central College in Naperville, Ill., tomorrow.
