MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The UW-River Falls softball team earned its second consecutive doubleheader sweep to go undefeated at the March 3-4 Auggie Dome Games, earning 10-1 and 1-0 wins over Crown College on Saturday.
After a commanding 10-1 win in five innings to open the day, the Falcons won a defensive battle in game two, led by a no-hitter from
Maggie Wallin that featured 10 strikeouts.
UW-River Falls 10, Crown 1 (5 inn.)
The Falcons scored 10 off 13 hits and a pair of Polar errors, holding Crown to just one run off three hits.
A collective effort paced the Falcon offense, with
Johanna Breyen,
Keegan Piton,
Caitlin Hartsell, and Eleanor all collecting two base hits each. Breyen, Piton, Hartsell, and
Hannah Richards had two RBI each as well
Up 2-1 after three innings, UWRF scored five in top half of the fourth inning, including RBI doubles from Richards and Hartsell along with a two-RBI triple from Breyen. The Falcons tacked on three unarned runs in the fifth and shut the door in the bottom half for the win.
Freshman
Caitlin Hartsell made her first collegiate start in the pitchers circle, and went four innings while allowing one earned run.
Emily Crowe pitched one inning in relief.

In game two, the Falcons had seven hits but scored just one run in the sixth inning off a Crown error.
Maggie Wallin led the Falcons, throwing her first career no-hitter with a career-high 10 strikeouts. UWRF's last no-hitter came on April 19 of last season from
Juliana Reynolds.
Johanna Breyen and
Kelly Aultman had two hits apiece.
