RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team defeated UW-La Crosse 16-13 Wednesday evening at Ramer Field.
The Falcons, now 6-5 overall, briefly saw the visiting Eagles take a 12-10 lead before taking back its lead with a strong fourth period for the win.
A competitive first half led to a one-goal lead for the Falcons, heading into the final 20 minutes leading 6-5. After just three combined goals in the second period, UWL and UWRF each scored four goals in the second. UWRF held a 24-10 lead in shots through the first half.
UWRF opened the second half taking a 10-6 lead 10 minutes in, but the Eagles stormed back with six goals in a row to gain their first lead of the game and led by two goals early in the fourth quarter.
The Falcons responded with four-straight goals, including a pair from
Emma Heerey to take a 14-12 lead. UWRF outscored UWL 6-3 in the final 15 minutes to earn the win.

Grace Hannula, and
Bailey O'Donovan led the Falcons with four goals each, followed by three from
Josie Johnson.
Abby Hammond made seven saves in net to earn her third win of the season.
