RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team earned a 12-10 win over UW-Eau Claire Friday evening from Smith Stadium at Ramer Field.
The Falcons, now 9-5 overall, avenged last week's loss at UW-Eau Claire to split the season series against the Blugolds.
UWEC came out strong, gaining a five-goal lead early into the second period before the Falcons rallied and played strong defense in the second half for the win.
Trailing 7-3 six minutes into the second frame, the Falcons responded five consecutive goals to claim an 8-7 lead, their first advantage of the night, and didn't let the visitors regain a lead. UWRF outscored the Blugolds 5-3 in the second half to claim the two-goal win.
The Falcons outshot the Blugolds 37-22 and set a season-high with 20 successful clears.
Josie Johnson and
Grace Hannula led the way with three goals each, while
Bailey O'Donovan led the Falcons with four points off two goals and two assists.
Abby Hammond made seven saves in net to receive the win, improving her record to 5-1 on the season.
