PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The UW-River Falls softball team was swept in a league doubleheader at UW-Platteville Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons, now 14-12 overall and 2-2 during WIAC play, were held to 10 base hits on the day compared to the Pioneer's 21. UWP also forced six Falcon errors and batted in 14 runs.
Through two games,
Lindsey Strom,
Megan Halvorson, and
Johanna Breyen combined for two hits apiece.
UWRF remains on the road tomorrow with another conference doubleheader at UW-La Crosse in West Salem, Wis., at West Salem High School.

A six-run third inning for home team proved to be the differences in the series opener, as UWP totaled nine runs off nine hits and a trio of Falcon errors.
UWRF opened the game's scoring in the second inning with a
Lindsey Strom RBI double to score
Kelly Aultman before the Pioneer's offensive surge.
Strom and Breyen each recorded RBI singles in the sixth inning to cut the Pioneer lead to 8-3, but it was too little too late.
Maggie Wallin made the start in teh pitcher's circle and conceded the loss.
UW-Platteville 9, UW-River Falls 1 (5 inn.)
The Platteville bats stayed hot in game two, although they waited until the fifth inning to put the game out of the Falcons' reach.
Trailing 3-0 after three innings, UWRF scored its sole run of the game with a
Matti Renikow RBI single to score
Keegan Piton in the fourth inning.
In the fifth, UWP plated six runs off five hits to end the game.
Morgan Stevenson allowed three earned runs in four innings to receive the loss in the pitcher's circle.
