CLERMONT, Fla. – The UW-River Falls softball team opened its 2024 spring break trip with a split and a pair of one-run games on Saturday.
The Falcons, now 5-1 overall, defeated SUNY Brockport 8-7 Saturday morning before a 6-5 loss against Ohio Wesleyan in the afternoon.
Tomorrow, UWRF plays the College of Saint Mary and Framingham State.

During the spring break opener, the Falcons rallied from a seven-run deficit and a
Kelly Aultman RBI single scored
Johanna Breyen for walk-off game-winning run in the seventh inning.
Hannah Effertz,
Maddie Koch, and
Emily Crowe had two hits apiece, while Crowe led the trio with three runs batted in. Crowe had RBI singles in both the fourth and sixth innings to aid the Falcon comeback.
Down 7-6 heading into seventh, the Falcons tied the game with an
Abby Pitts RBI single to score
Hannah Richards, who led off the inning being hit by a pitch. Aultman followed with the game-winning RBI.
In the pitcher's circle, Crowe received the win after pitching 4.1 scoreless innings in relief.
Ohio Wesleyan 6, UW-River Falls 5
In game two of the day, the Battling Bishops scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to erase a one-run Falcon lead, and then shut the door in the seventh for the win.
UWRF scored five runs off six hits and three OWU errors, earning a 2-0 lead through two and a half innings after an OWU error and an Aultman RBI single. OWU answered with a three-run bottom half to take a 3-2 lead.
Two more runs batted in from Aultman pushed the Falcon lead to 5-3 in the top of the sixth, but OWU scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth, which was enough for the win.
Aultman and Crowe both had two hits.
Maggie Wallin made the start in the pitcher's circle and allowed three earned runs in five innings.
