Falcons Sweep Polars, Dohlman Reaches 100 Career Wins

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The UW-River Falls softball team swept Crown College Saturday morning on the campus of Augsburg University to go undefeated on the weekend at the Auggie Dome Games.

UWRF defeated the Polars by scores of 6-1 in 7-6. With the game one victory, head coach Amber Dohlman reached 100 career wins.

The Falcons, now 4-0 overall, return to action in Florida during their March 16-23 spring break trip.

UW-River Falls 6, Crown 1
Maggie Wallin pitched her second complete game in as many days, allowing just one Polar earned run in seven innings. She tallied 11 strikeouts and allowed five hits.

UWRF claimed a 2-0 lead through two innings before plating four more in the final two frames to seal the win. In the third inning, a Hannah Effertz RBI double scored fellow freshman Kayla Dolan for the eventual game-winning run.

Jewel Waupekenay, who totaled six hits yesterday, led the team with three hits while Kelly Aultman had a pair of runs batted in.
 
UW-River Falls 7, Crown 6
In game two, the Falcons were paced by a six-run effort in the third inning the survived a late Polar comeback attempt.

Trailing 4-0, UWRF scored six off four hits and one Polar error in the third inning, including a three-run triple from Effertz, and the Falcons led 6-4.

UWRF scored an unearned run in the fifth inning to take a 7-4 lead. Crown then scored a couple runs in the seventh, but Lindsey Duggan struck out a Polar for the final out to seal the win.
