RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team fell 11-9 against Carroll University Friday afternoon on Ramer Field.
The Falcons led 4-3 at halftime before a strong third period from the Pioneers put the visiting team up 9-6 heading into the final 15 minutes to come away with the victory.
UWRF opened the fourth quarter scoring three consecutive goals from
Grace Hannula,
Emma Heerey, and
Sydney Chance-Farley to tie the game at 9-9, but Carroll stole back the momentum late in regulation and sealed the win with a pair of goals.Â
An evenly matched game led to a 21-21 turnover count, and a slim 22-18 shots on goal lead for the Falcons. UWRF also held a 13-10 edge in draw controls. Carroll took advantage of its free-position shots, going 4-for-4 while holding the Falcons scoreless on three attempts.
Hannula led the Falcons with three goals, followed by two from Heerey.
Brooke Glumack had a team-high four points with a goal and three assists.
Aliviah McClinton tallied five ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Kayden Hersback made a season-high seven saves in net.
UWRF, now 4-3 overall, returns to Ramer Field again tomorrow afternoon to host Illinois Wesleyan University.
