LA CROSSE, Wis. - The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team won its sixth game in a row and fifth consecutive league contest with a 16-12 win at UW-La Crosse Wednesday afternoon.
The Falcons, now 10-3 overall and 5-0 in the WIAC, secured at least a top two seed in the conference standings.Â
UWRF collected a season-high 19 caused turnovers while the offense was led by
Bailey O'Donovan's career-high six goals.
Aliviah McClinton caused four turnovers and
Grace Hannula helped pace the attack with three goals. A trio of Falcons had three assists each:
Emma Heerey,
Holly Eckers, and
Samantha Hayek.Â
Kayden Hersback made the start in net and notched eight saves en route to earning the win, her seventh of the season.
In the first quarter, the Falcons jumped out to a 3-0 lead and outscored UWL 7-4 after 15 minutes, and held a lead for the rest of regulation. UWL scored five straight goals to open the fourth quarter, but a five-goal third frame by the Falcons allowed for enough breathing room to secure the win.
