Falcons fall in two to the Blue Devils

MENOMONIE, Wis. - The UW-River Falls softball team fell to UW-Stout in a doubleheader at Alumni Field Monday evening. 

Kelly Aultman led the Falcons with two hits on the day including a home run in game two. 

The Falcons now 10-14, 0-6 WIAC return to action tomorrow, April 23rd for a doubleheader conference match up versus UW-Lacrosse at Perkins Field. 

UW-River Falls 1, UW-Stout 11 (5 inn.)
UW-Stout held the Falcons scoreless through the first three innings, scoring 11 runs to solidify the win. In the fourth, Maddie Koch hit an RBI single to get the Falcons on the board.

The Blue Devils were able to score 11 runs off just 10 hits, while keeping the Falcons to just one run off four hits. 

Johanna Breyen, Kelly Aultman, Maddie Koch, and Addi DeMeyer all had a hit a piece for the Falcons. 

In the pitchers' circle Maggie Wallin started the game and suffered the loss. Emily Crowe and Brooklyn VanGruensven came in for relief.

In game two, it was all UW-Stout again. Kelly Aultman hit a home run in the sixth inning to try and add some spark for the Falcons offense, but the Blue Devils were able to score five runs in the first five innings to solidify a doubleheader sweep.

The Falcons were held to one run and just three hits, while the Blue Devils scored five runs off eight hits. 

Lindsey Duggan suffered the loss in the pitchers' circle. Maggie Wallin came in to relief pitch and allowed just one hit. 

Hannah Effertz and Natasha Burinda each had one hit.
