RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team fell by a score of 16-8 against UW-La Crosse Friday evening at Ramer Field during the WIAC Tournament Semifinals.
The No. 3 seeded Eagles advanced to face top seed Colorado College in tomorrow night's WIAC Championship game while the Falcons will settle to face No. 4 seed UW-Eau Claire tomorrow in the third-place game.
After scoring the game's opening goal just 45 seconds into regulation, UWL answered with eight consecutive goals to lead 8-1 with 9:50 left in the first half. The seven-goal deficit proved to be too much for the Falcons to rally.Â
Down 8-3 at halftime, the Falcons opened the third quarter with three goals in a row to trim the Eagles' lead to 8-5, but that was as close as UWRF cut into the UWL lead. The Eagles quickly responded with a 6-0 run that led into the fourth quarter to lead by nine goals, putting the game out of reach.Â
UWRF held a slim edge in shots on goal at 29-25 while the Eagles' goaltender Abigale Furlano collected a career-high 21 saves.
Brooke Glumack led the Falcons with three goals and six draw controls, while
Kinlee Knutson and
Holly Eckers had two assists each.
Kayden Hersback made nine saves in net.
