STEVENS POINT, Wis. — The UW-River Falls Track & Field program competed at Day 1 of the 2025 WIAC Indoor Championships this Friday, February 28 in Stevens Point, Wis.
Junior pole vaulter Annika Gunderson highlighted the day, earning All-WIAC honors with a third-place finish in the women's pole. Through one day of the men's heptathlon, Jacob Balcome stands in fourth place with 2,867 points and Joe Guthrie ranks fifth with 2,739 points.
FIELD
- Gunderson cleared 3.83 meters (12-06.75) on her second attempt in women's pole vault, after jumping the previous two heights on her first attempts.
- Jacob Balcome placed eighth in the men's long jump, leaping 6.88 meters (22-07).
- In women's shot put, Lauryn Schutz placed ninth with a throw of 12.44 meters (40-09.75).
- Brady Sindelir placed 12th out of 29 throwers in the men's shot put, throwing 14.72 meters (48-03).
- Brielle Kuechle placed 12th in the women's long jump, leaping 5.24 meters (17-02.25).
MULTIS
- Balcome led the way on Day 1 of the Men's Heptathlon, scoring 2,867 points.
- The sophomore placed first overall in the long jump, leaping 6.94 meters (22-09.25).
- His second best finish on Day 1 was in the high jump, placing fourth with a height of 1.90 meters (6-02.75).
- Balcome finished sixth in shot put (11.54m meters/37-10.5) and seventh in the 60 meters (7.31).
- Joe Guthrie ranked fifth after Day 1, scoring 2,739 points.
- Guthrie finished fourth place in the long jump (6.59 meters/21-07.5), shot put (11.85 meters/38-10.5),
TRACK
- Freshman Adison Wilde placed 10th in the women's mile, clocking in 5:14.20. Her time was within a second of a career-best and top-10 program mark.
- In the women's 5,000 meters, Laina Viere led the way for UWRF with a seventh-place finish at 18:22.17.
- UWRF's women's distance medley team placed fifth with a time of 12:37.4.
