RIVER FALLS, Wis. — The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team had a successful senior day at Ramer Field on Saturday, April 26, defeating the UW-Stout Blue Devils 21-3.
The Falcons took a huge lead out of the gates and never looked back, as UWRF forced a running clock in the first quarter and ran off with a 21-3 victory, just two goals shy of tying the program record for goals scored in a game. Junior Samantha Hayek led the way with six goals, reaching 100 career goals.
The win improved UWRF's record on the season to 11-5, and wrapped up the team's regular season WIAC campaign with a conference record of 6-3. The game also marked the 2025 senior day, where the UWRF lacrosse team honored Kayden Hersback.
River Falls came out fast in the first quarter, holding a 14-1 advantage in shots on goal that led to a 10-0 first quarter. Another large 8-0 advantage in shots on goal added five more goals in the second quarter, as UWRF went into halftime leading 15-0.
The Falcons out scored the Blue Devils 3-1 in the third quarter and 3-2 in the final frame, running off with an 18-point victory in front of the home fans on senior day.
Hayek led the way with seven points off six goals and one assist — she tallied 15 shots and nine shots on goal, along with three ground balls. Avery Watzke totaled four points off three goals and one assist. Brooke Glumack totaled six points off five assists and one goal. In goal, Isabel Orton received the victory to improve to 5-2 on the season. Natasha Berthiaume led the way with four ground balls, while Samantha Hayek, Avery Watzke, and Lilah Gilyard each recorded three.
Next up, the Falcons will travel to Augsburg on April 29, with the game scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. The game is designated as a non-conference matchup.
