RIVER FALLS, Wis. — The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) honored 256 Division III student-athletes with selections to the 2025 All-Region teams, with UW-River Falls' Lilah Gilyard and Samantha Hayek earning spots on the list.
Both Gilyard and Hayek were named to the West Region Second Team, and were two of 11 WIAC athletes recognized. The recognition for Hayek marked her second consecutive year earning IWLCA All-Region Second Team honors.
Hayek finished the season with 58 goals and 81 points, both of which are the second most in a season by a Falcon. She led the WIAC with 4.76 points per game and ranked second with 3.41 points per game. Against UW-Stout, Hayek netted her 100th career goal — upon the season's end, she ranks second all time at UWRF in career assists.
Gilyard was an anchor to UWRF's defense this season, starting in all 17 games. She totaled 32 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers. The junior helped the Falcons record a strong defensive season, in which UWRF set a new program record for caused turnovers in a season with 230, ranking first in the WIAC and 20th in Division III with 13.47 caused turnovers per game.
The Falcons finished the year with a 12-5 overall record and a 6-3 record in WIAC play. Five UWRF players claimed All-WIAC honors, with Gilyard and Hayek earning first-team accolades.
