A select group from the UW-River Falls Track & Field team is set to compete at the UW-La Crosse Uncaged Eagle Open this Friday, May 9, hoping for a last chance opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
UWRF is coming off a the WIAC Outdoor Championships May 2-3 in Oshkosh, Wis., highlighted by the men's team earning a fifth place finish with 44.5 points - tying the program's best finish in history and best since 1994. Jacob Balcome led the way with a conference title in the men's decathlon, while Yaih Marial was the runner-up in the men's high jump and Joe Guthrie was an All-Conference finisher in both the men's javelin and decathlon.
Several Falcon women cracked UWRF's top-10 lists, including distance runners Laina Viere moving into fourth all-time in the 10,000-meter run and Adison Wilde in the 1,500m run.
